About a week ago, I was told by a an employee that I know really well at SONGS that they will be testing their 1003s, and of course I definitely had to come out to see them test. Dylan Keville (Casablanca Panama 101) and Ryan Frankel also came as well, Edaan decided to flake out on this great opportunity. But anyways, these are the only active Thunderbolts in Southern California, and these are plant evacuation sirens for SONGS. This was my first time hearing a Thunderbolt at full volume, but the first Thunderbolt I’ve heard was Edaan’s, but chopper only. This was definitely worth to see, and I wanna give a huge thanks to the employees at the plant for allowing me to come on to the property to film this! The test was basically only 17 seconds long, but if you count the wind down, it was 27 seconds. Despite it being short, it was still worth it!
Just a side note, the announcement given before they go off is coming from PA speakers around the plant.
