This was to be the greatest performance of Haig's international career and won him the bronze medal here in Zurich at the 1971 Europeans. The commentator is Dr Eva Pawlik of Austria the 1949 European champion and she mentions the fact that Haig was landing triple lutz at this time in practice; one of the few men capable of this jump at his time. No one had successfully accomplished the jump since Don Jackson's 1962 Worlds first and it would be 1974 before Laslo Vajda and Jann Hoffmann landed them in a world championship again.
