The Great War, also commonly referred to as World War 1 and the "War to end all wars", took place from 1914 to 1918. After the assasination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand by Serbians, the Austro-Hungarian nation declared war. Alliances were made and the main combatants included Germany and Austro-Hungary on the Axis and Russia, Great Britain and France on the Allies. The United States would join the war in 1917 on the Allies side to seal the fate of the Axis.

During this time new technologies such as the Machine Gun, Chemicals, Airplanes and Tanks were improved upon causing casualties on an unprecedented level.
