W. Clement Stone was an American businessman, philanthropist and New Thought author. With Napoleon Hill he wrote the best-selling book Success Through a Positive Mental Attitude.

Stone’s concept of positive mental attitude (PMA) has much in common with his friend Dr Norman Vincent Peale’s doctrine of positive thinking.

In addition to his many business activities, Stone was for many years chair of the board of directors of the American Foundation for Religion and Psychiatry (later known as the Institutes of Religion and Health and now known as the Blanton-Peale Institute), which was founded by Dr Peale and his colleague, psychiatrist Dr Smiley Blanton. Stone also provided much of the initial funding for the self-help organization GROW.

W. Clement Stone died on September 3, 2002 at the age of 100.
