One thing Jibang and I have been into for a while is the recent fascination with liminal space. There's a way in which it speaks to a great metaphysical predicament for our species: that being individuated but necessarily interdependent, we rely on our structures to mediate this incongruity but these structures too often grow beyond our control. When they do, it's as though we are working for them rather than the other way around. Whether they're political, legal, cultural, economic, etc., they were built for a purpose, but that purpose tends to drift as the operation of the structure-for-itself takes precedence. This carries a number of implications that we'll explore in this video but you don't want to read all this, just skip down to the links with all the sources to find cool artists, music, and awesome stuff to read, and enjoy the video!

Fun note about the Four Corners monument at 23:36
From the National Geodesic Survey (NGS):
T]here is a discrepancy between the actual location [of the monument], which we know to a high degree of accuracy, and our best knowledge of where it was intended to be located....
[W]e cannot overemphasize the fact that the aforementioned technical geodetic details are absolutely moot when considering any question of the correctness or validity of the Four Corners monument in marking the intersection of the four states. Indeed, the monument marks the exact spot where the four states meet. A basic tenet of boundary surveying is that once a monument has been established and accepted by the parties involved (in the case of the Four Corners monument, the parties were the four territories and the U.S. Congress), the location of the physical monument is the ultimate authority in delineating a boundary. Issues of legality trump scientific details, and the intended location of the point becomes secondary information. In surveying, monuments rule!
