File upload vulnerabilities are when a web server allows users to upload files to its filesystem without sufficiently validating things like their name, type, contents, or size.

A reverse shell, also known as a remote shell or “connect-back shell,” takes advantage of the target system’s vulnerabilities to initiate a shell session and then access the victim’s computer.

Privilege escalation can be defined as an attack that involves gaining illicit access of elevated rights, or privileges, beyond what is intended or entitled for a user.
