TONE CHECK: Fender Custom Shop ’52 Flash Coat Telecaster: If you're after a truly vintage-styled Fender instrument, you'd be hard-pressed to find one that more demonstrates vintage vibe than this one. This Custom Shop Creation features a "flash coat” finish: a weathered polyurethane base under a nitrocellulose lacquer top. That’s what gives it a uniquely "relic'd" look along with plenty of finish checking throughout. It SOUNDS like an early '50s Tele thanks to the dual hand-wound ‘Loaded' '51 Nocaster single-coil pickups, so you can get that iconic Tele twang. It’s also been outfitted with period-correct hardware: a three-saddle '51-'54 Telecaster bridge, vintage-style tuners and a black pickguard. The body is ash, the neck, quartersawn maple with a Nocaster “U" profile, 9.5" fingerboard radius and Sanko 6105 frets, giving it a truly authentic feel. Total weight is a svelte 6lbs, 9oz.

ABOUT THIS GUITAR: This Custom Shop ’52 Flash Coat Telecaster an example of a Fender Custom Shop Dream machine - If you dream it, they will build it. Here’s the story of how it came to us: While attending the Jan. ’18 NAMM show, our Cream City Music team visited Fender's Custom Shop Dealer Showcase. In this showcase were all of the wildest dreams of the Custom Shop Luthiers - one guitar more wackier and wonderful than the next. Dealers were able to put drawing tickets on the ones they really liked. We walked through the room and placed tickets on only a few of the hundreds of beautiful guitars. We REALLY fell in love with the weight and look of this one but didn’t think we would actually get it. A few weeks after the show, we got an email saying it was headed to our shop. The day we got it, we regretfully offered it up for sale and some lucky person snapped it up almost immediately. We were very sorry to see it find a home so quickly but we still wanted to share this video with you all. We asked our guitar guru friend Aram Feriants to show you the guitar's tones.
