Blender Tutorial - Chemistry, Making 3D Models of Molecules, Making a Methane Molecule

No chemistry lab would be complete without some nice models of molecules. This tutorial shows how to make one of the simplest molecules, methane. The tutorial shows how to make the model in about three and half minutes!

The latter part of the tutorial adds two extra materials for oxygen and nitrogen, the idea being that the tutorial inspires you to make some more, more complicated molecules (dna for instance ;)

There is a video on YouTube showing an add-on (by Jonathan Ng) that automates the process. It is still possible to download the script but I cannot get it to work with the latest version of Blender (2.69). In the video the add-on looks powerful and easy to use, hopefully Jonathan will update it.
