Behringer Model D Jam 2 and Patchbays
by KWHCoaster
Finally dug my #patchbays out of the closet and put them to good use. Long over due!!
1) Top #patchbay has all the instrument to mixer connections. There are some free spots, but the cabling is there for each mixer input.
2) Middle #patchbay has the mixer main/alternate outs
to the Zoom R16 inputs. And the Boss RC-505 inputs for
sampling/effects.
3) Bottom #patchbay has the ins/outs for the effects
gear (guitar pedals and Korg KP3). The Behringer Ultrapatch also has Thru mode for when you don't want to have a signal automatically routed in the jack field.
No patch cables are needed to use my default setup. They are only
needed when I want to make some routing changes, add effects, etc.
Having the #patchbays has allowed me to do things I hadn't even considered before.
In this track, the Model D is going into the Liquid Chorus, then into Reverb, then into deluxeBass and back to Mixer 1.
In the picture with the patch cables, I'm routing the Korg R3 into unused inputs on Mixer 2 and applying echo effects with the mixer's effects. Since the R3 is in a half-normal jack field, the dry signal still goes to Mixer 1 and the Mixer 2 has the wet signal applied to the copy of the R3 signal. Although not used in
this track, it gives a nice full sound when mixed together.
Having the Boss RC-505 on the patchbay gives lots of options for
routing instruments into the RC-505 for sampling or using the RC-505's effects.
Now to make it tidy in behind the patchbays. And rethink the MIDI routing.
