TLDR, buy .75mm pads for VRAM and the factory GPU paste is at least on par with kryonaut so no real need to change it unless you just feel like splitting the card.
Silent video, just for reference.
Added Gelid Ultimate clone pads to VRAM 1mm (Fail, not compressable enough and/or probably not the right size)
After much thought this probably requires either very soft 1mm or high density .75mm pad
Both problems could be solved by a good thermal putty
3DMark Speedway Stress Test 10 Minutes
During the 1st test it became very apparent the GPU die mounting pressure was not where it should be.
GPU temp was ok, but the hotspot hit 100c slowly. This was indicative of the 1mm new pads not being as compressable as the stock 1mm pads. Its also possible these are a more odd .75mm size pad as well. But they look extremely identical to fresh 1mm pads.
Split the card again, added back the oem thermal pads on VRAM and temps were back to nearly the identical.
The OEM paste is about as good as thermal grizzly kryonaut. Unless you have temps that are unreasonably high there is no reason to change the paste on the this card.
If you want to lower memory temps you will need to find very low density 1mm pads (or possibly .75mm) for the VRAM. Alternatives like 3d graphite pads which are designed to be highly compressable may work here as well.
I have some 13.5w/mk putty coming in that I will run on the VRAM instead of the oem pads, that will be very compressable.
I may try to stack some .3mm copper shims with thin K5 Pro putty on the memory as well.
