Описание

This short exhibition film explores how famous 17th-century carver, Grinling Gibbons' (1648-1721) changed the direction of British carving, sculpture and interiors, and how his extraordinary creative output inspired both his contemporaries and makers across the succeeding 300 years.

Two exhibition films have been produced by Victoria Jenner: History TV for display at Bonhams, London and Compton Verney in the Cotswolds. They are made in celebration of Grinling Gibbons' tercentenary and with the Grinling Gibbons Society and partners who are hosting events across the UK in 2021-2022. As part of the festival, the exhibition 'Centuries in the Making' will explore the influences that shaped Gibbons' vision, skills and technique and the stylistics and cultural influences he brought to this country.
