Former federal agent Tim Ballard, after rescuing a young boy, learns that the child’s sister is still in the hands of criminals and decides to go beyond standard official procedure in an attempt to bring her home. The investigation leads him from the United States to Colombia, where behind beautiful façades, closed doors, and false promises lies a brutal system of exploitation built on fear, poverty, and defenselessness. Tim acts almost alone, risking his career, safety, and his own life, but it is his personal resolve that keeps him from stepping back when official mechanisms prove too slow. Alejandro Monteverde’s biographical crime drama is based on the story of former agent Tim Ballard and turns the fight against human trafficking into a tense thriller about conscience, faith, and a man who could not walk past someone else’s suffering.
