Abstract: We will start with basic categorical notions, along with examples from both mathematics and other fields. The talk will then gradually introduce more and more complex structures, to help us finally derive the Graphical Calculus, a visual mathematical tool. We hope to motivate the talk by showing similarities between Graphical Calculus and typical engineering diagrams, culminating in a unifying language both visually intuitive and mathematically rigorous.
