Philodendron Selloum Care, Propagation and Repotting
Описание
Growing up I saw lots of Philodendron Selloum plants with their massive fenestrated leaves growing in people's gardens and it became one of my favourites and also the first Philodendron I bought. My plant quickly outgrew its container and needed to be moved out into the garden.
These are tough plants and can tolerate a fair amount of neglect once mature. In this video I will show you how to repot your Philodendron Selloum with some general care tips and at the end of this video I will pot up a propagation I made a few months ago :)

General Philodendron Care Guide:
1. Lighting: Philodendrons prefer bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight, as it can scorch their leaves. If the leaves start to lose their vibrant color or become pale, it may indicate that the plant is not receiving enough light.
2. Watering: Allow the top inch of the soil to dry out between waterings. Overwatering can lead to root rot, so it's crucial to ensure proper drainage in the pot. Water less frequently during the winter months when the plant's growth slows down.
3. Humidity: Philodendrons appreciate high humidity levels, but they can tolerate average indoor humidity. You can increase humidity by misting the leaves regularly or placing the pot on a tray filled with pebbles and water. Grouping plants together can also create a more humid microclimate.
4. Temperature: Philodendrons thrive in average room temperatures ranging from 65-80°F (18-27°C). Avoid exposing them to temperatures below 55°F (13°C), as they are sensitive to cold drafts.
5. Fertilizing: Feed your philodendron with a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Reduce or stop fertilizing in the fall and winter when the plant's growth slows down.
6. Pruning: Regularly remove any yellowing or dead leaves to encourage new growth and maintain the plant's appearance. You can also prune to control the size and shape of your philodendron.
7. Potting and Repotting: Use a well-draining potting mix for philodendrons. Repot the plant every 1-2 years or when it becomes root-bound, typically indicated by roots emerging from the drainage holes or the plant becoming too large for its pot. Spring is the best time for repotting.
8. Pests and Diseases: Keep an eye out for common houseplant pests such as spider mites, aphids, and mealybugs. If you notice any signs of pests or diseases (e.g., yellowing leaves, sticky residue), treat the plant promptly with insecticidal soap or neem oil.
