TL;DW: Mythic heroes vastly increase the viability of C, B, and A tier heroes because it's much harder to get S Tier hero shards.

Less than 2500:

Focus on Luke, Tristan, Xavier (Xavier over Adrian because Xavier will get more shards). Keep Evan in your team, his CC will be amazing later. If you get a good S Rank hero, use it. Experiment with what you have and keep hero levels relatively equal. Promote Tristan and Luke so that they're equally ascended. For example, promote Luke to 1* uncommon then Tristan to 1* uncommon, shards permitting.

For warriors, you should be transitioning towards Anthony, Ryan, Diego, Randolph, and Leonidas. I did this on my alt account around stage 2500. In earlier levels, use warriors that are give you the most DPS, but warrior DPS contributions will diminish as Luke and Tristan get stronger.

Less than 5000:

Xavier should be 1* legendary, Luke and Tristan should be Epic or Legendary. Your biggest gains at this point will be from ascending Luke and Tristan. After Xavier, Luke and Tristan are promoted, next up is Evan.

When you get to wave 4000 to 4500, you will start crafting your legendary bow. I'd generally recommend starting when rare (blue) 1* patterns start dropping. You want to promote a S Rank Frost bow. After the bow, the next item to promote is an arrow. You will need to continue to promote each time you're eligible and never make an item higher than +12.

Less than 7500:

By now you have Xavier, Tristan, Luke, Evan promoted to max legendary as well as many S Rank heroes unlocked and promoted. My loadout at this time was: Support: Gabriel, Evan, Harold, Luke, Tristan, Camilla, Xavier, Christian. Warriors: Anthony, Leonidas, Diego, Randolph, Ryan.

At this point my stuns and slows started interfering with my ability to farm by stunning or slowing enemies out of the range of my heroes. Therefore, I created a B team. I swapped Harold for Adrian and Evan for Aisha. For warriors I'm using Rodrick, Brian, Raven, Vincent, and Daniel.

You will finish crafting your legendary gear by this point. The order should be: boots, helm, chest, gloves. You will need to continue to promote each time you're eligible and never make an item higher than +12.

Less than 10000:

Luke and Tristan Mythic 1* means support damage still matters. Clearing stages may take significantly longer.

You might focus all your soul stones on levelling Sophia (until at most 10k) because the higher her attack is the greater her heal. It depends if you're getting stuck or not.

Less than 13000:

Sophia should be at a reasonable level so that you can push, push, push. The next highest damage is most likely Christian then your Archers. The game is no longer as focused around stalling to win, but increasing your DPS as much as possible.

Greater than or equal to 13000:

You can now promote your archer gear to Mythic 5*. This also means you can upgrade all of your archer gear higher than +12, but you should primarily promote the arrow and gloves. At 13300, you've unlocked everything the game has to offer and should focus on upgrading all your heroes with Mythic 5* gear.
