In 1992 Photographer Lee Tepley and snorkler Lisa Costello enteree the water with a group of Pilot whales about 8 miles off shore from Kealakakua bay, Hawaii. Lisa started to pet a curious Pilot whale. Shortly afterwards, Lisa was taken under water by the same whale and almost drowned. Lee Tepley recorded most of this event on 16 mm. film. It has been uploaded to YouTube many times - mostly in violation of copyright. Lee Tepley was fined $10,000 for harassing PIlot whales. The charge was dismisseed after a 3 year legal battle
