ULRICH AHLE
FIWARE Foundation and village of Borchen-Etteln, CEO and District Head
This presentation will demonstrate how a village has implemented it's digitization strategy called 'Digital Village Twin'. After a lot of voluntarily work done by the citizens (deployment of 30 kilometers of fibre, installation of a digital village App, installation of a village e-car, ...) a LoRaWAN and several sensors were installed beginning of 2023. This together with several other data discribing what is happening in the village are collected by an Urban Data Platform based on FIWARE, with this not only using Open Source but also open standards for APIs (like NGSI-LD or SensorThingsAPI) and data models. Using a drone a point cloud and a 3D Mesh was created for the village. The sensor data coming from the FIWARE platform are now presented to the citizens using the 3D Digital Twin. Based on this several smart use cases are in preparation like an autonomously flying drone to support the fire brigade or an early flood warning system for a new village quarter.
Implementing it's digitization strategy which was approved by the community council mid of 2022 the village of Etteln is on it's way to become a digital lighthouse village in Germany.
The presentation will contain a live demonstration of data dashboards and the 3D Digital Twin of the village and can be done either in English or in German.
