Pygmalion Effect
Описание
Robert Rosenthal and Lenore Jacobson put together a devious little experiment in the mid 60s that has become one of the most cited psychological studies to date. Its result shows us that in the classroom, students who are treated as having higher potential end up proving so. The Pygmalion Effect shows us that expectations can influence performance for better or worse. The ways we reflect expectations on others are influenced by our own beliefs, which is confirmed by others actions, resulting from the way we treat them. What a cycle! This doesn't just play out in the classroom, but also in our workplaces, our relationships, our kids, on social media, and many other environments. Checking our preconceived assumptions and biases is critical to ensuring we don't play into this model unfairly.

What is #30in30?
A developing project focused on a deep discourse into a topic of personal interest for 30 days. What started as the sharing of a new musical artist each workday on LinkedIn for a period of 30 days (https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/singing-through-abyss-guillermo-echarte/?published=t) turned into a longer-term journey of learning, improvement and sharing.
This 30in30 on mental models is the second installment of the series.
