Oscar De la Hoya vs Jesse James Leija was suppose to be De La Hoya’s biggest test. The Golden Boy knocked out leija. After defeating Darryl Tyson Oscar faced his biggest test against Jesus Cesar Chavez. After Oscar De La Hoya defeated Jesus Cesar Chavez for the WBC Lightweight Championship he stepped up in weight to fight a bigger challenger the WBC Welterweight Champion Pernell Whitaker. After defeating Pernell Whitaker Hector Macho Camacho was able to sell a big money fight with the Golden Boy. After Oscar De La Hoya dominated Camacho he revisited and old score to settle with Julio Cesar Chavez after he wasn’t given credit for the prior won due to stoppage for cuts. After Chavez couldn’t continue and De La Hoya cemented his rivalry win over Chavez he took on a strong welterweight Wilfredo Rivera. After Delahoya defeated Wilfredo Rivera he took on his toughest fight of his career against Ike Quartey and won in a legendary fight. Oscar De La Hoya took on a tune up fight against Oba Carr as his ultimate test awaited ahead (Felix Trinidad). After losing a close decision to Felix Trinidad for the WBC & IBF unified welterweight championship Oscar De La Hoya try to change the critics mind from that fight by taking on the undefeated power punching Sugar Shane Mosley. Felix Trinidad had moved up to Super Welterweight and De La Hoya regain the WBC & IBA Welterweight Championships. After losing to Shane Mosley, Oscar De La Hoya signed a fight with Arturo Gatti as a comeback fight.
