The SIEG 1XL Mini milling machine is the cheapest mill u can buy..
You can pick these up for around $850 Australian dollars on Ebay or Amazon as well as harbour fright and simulator stores
There shipped out of china in a wood crate aprox 515 x360 x710mm
that weighs a shit-ton 40kg that's just under 90lbs for thous of you that speak funny..
once opened you will be pleasantly supersized at the array of accessorises they have supply such as a 10mm chuck and a few crap-tacular spanners

They say this is supposed to double as a drill press but with 150w motor and a 10mm and
spindle stroke 30mm I have no idea what the hell your going to be drilling ..

the story behind this is I have had it for a few years now and have only put a few hours on it ..
I spoz the main reason I haven't been using it much is because ….. its a POS

so ! some of the problems I have been facing since I got this thing is it got hell bad run out on the tables XY axis

It chitters and chatters it shitters and shatters
its noisy and grumpy and makes all bumpy

wouldn't cutter though butter as she spitters and splutters


it vibrates so badly I have a 24x12 table in the work shop and shit would be bouncing off onto the floor … its shacking that shit that bad

So that brings us to today were it has broken a tooth of the drive gear and cracked the gear in Half

so im going to strip this right down and see what we find
1st thing u notice is the FF it is bad some of of the worst ive seen in a long time

but it gets worse your looking at the gears that change from HIGH to LOW ans to do this they need to slide up this key way on this shaft …
I am not sure how well u can see it but this is shocking its all wavy like a snake with burrs and razor sharp bits and bent bits as well
It looks like they have used this machine to do it with … that and the fact its just crap mild steal or they stuffed up the heat treatment because its as soft as ..

have a look at the gearbox fork this is what that shaft rotates inside of …
instead of using bearing its two brass sleeves ..
look at all the brass shavings that has come off after only a few hours of use …

I have also noticed that the spindle is mild steel see the damage the spanner has made to it… how long is that going to last do u think … when I have only put 4hrs run time on this
