Lexi the Labrador X Springer has completed her 3 weeks residential training stay.

Lexi really loves people but struggles to cope with other dogs coming close to her and she would quickly warn them away. This was worrying at times for Lexi's owners and the other dogs.

We've taught Lexi to look to her handler for support and guidance around other dogs, rather than warning them away she can now stay calmer and rely on her owners.

She has been reinforced for showing lower level warning signals and understands that these will be respected which has reduced her need to use strong signals like barking, chasing/charging or snapping.

Alongside this, we've worked on lowering Lexi's arousal levels and putting more control in place overall. This means she's able to focus and listen better on walks, respond reliably when called and walk more calmly on the lead.

Lexi may never choose to interact with other dogs but she can feel more confident and safe around them and trust her owners to help her out. We look forward to continuing to work together and progress her training further
