Genius KB-320e - Keyboard Unboxing

Hello. I wanted to buy this keyboard and I looked up unboxing videos, but I didn't find anything useful. So I bought the keyboard, made this video :) and I hope it helps someone if they're thinking about buying this keyboard. And I'm sorry about the video quality, my mobile phone camera is all I have.

Now about the keyboard: In my opinion, this keyboard is very good. The plastic is nice, it doesn't feel cheap, the design is good, the keys are easily pressed, without any resistance or jolting, and the amount of force needed to press them is just right, so you won't accidentally press them. Typing is relatively quiet and the keys are great, they are very smooth when you press them and they have a quality feel. They feel tight (gigitty) and stable, so they won't rattle when you type, which makes typing quiet. The handrest is kind of small for my hands and I barely rest my hands when I'm typing, but it's still nice. I changed the LEDs because my PC theme is black and blue, so I had to do it :). The hotkeys are also nice and soft to press.

I don't like the software though. Not all keys are customizable, most are "fixed" and can only be used for their intended function. Also the drivers run two processes, and they have an icon in the tray that can't be removed, which is very unfair. The chip on the PCB is from Chicony if anyone wanted to know, and not that I don't like it, it doesn't really change anything for me, but KYE Systems Corporation (Genius) is a big corporation, why use someone else's chip? Meh, never mind.

If you want to remove the tray icon, you need to edit a registry DWORD

32-bit OS:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Chicony\07170730\Default

and change the "Menu" DWORD value from 1 to 0.

64-bit OS:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Chicony\07170730\Default

and change the "Menu" DWORD value from 1 to 0.

Final words: If you like the keyboard then buy it, for the price (less than 10 euros or $14) you get a nice and quality keyboard with 16 hotkeys (4 of which are customizable) and a 4-way scroll key. Also Genius is a good brand, so the keyboard should last.
