F39 BMW X2 Test Drive

While my E39 was having the airbag replaced for a recall, I decided to do a review of the loaner they gave me. Unfortunately, I got an F39 X2. This was an X2 2.8i S-Drive which means it is a 2 liter four cylinder turbo with FWD. It produces about 228 HP and 258 Tq in a package that weighs about the same as my E39 which should make it feel similar to a 530i. The main thing I liked about this car was the M appearance package it had that came with a really nice steering wheel and seats; I also liked the 7,000 rpm redline. The engine was smooth and could definitely get out of its own way. The transmission was also pretty good. The problem is the car is SUPER ugly, and the price for that is horrible visibility. In a super car, that poor visibility is worth it, but in an ugly, FWD crossover, it's just another nail in the coffin. I would much rather have an AWD X1 which is cheaper, more practical, and better looking. There's really no reason to ever buy this car as far as i can tell because the best parts of it (engine, trans, seats, steering wheel, and interior materials) are all available in better BMWs like the 228I and X1 2.8i X-Drive.
