Описание

I needed to fabricate a bike rack to fit on the outside of my cargo carrier. All the bike carries I could find online took up valuable cargo space. And... were crazy expensive!

I cut out two slots to hold the bike wheels in a 64-inch long piece of 1-1/4 electrical PVC conduit that I spray painter black. I used two hose clamps to secure the PVC to the frame of the cargo carrier. I installed a heavy duty inside "L" bracket under a square tie plate that was attached to the square support tube of the cargo carrier with two square U-bolts. The U-bolts needed to be bend inward a pinch with a vise to make them fit the holes of the tie plate.

The vertical 1-inch piece of SCH 40 PVC pipe that I used to hold the bike upright needed to be heated and slightly flattened to fit over the "L" bracket.

For less than $25, I now have a bike carrier!

Supplies:
- Cargo carrier from Harbor Freight (Part #60771) - on sale ~$70
- 1/4-in thick tie plate from Northern Tools (Ultra-Tow #21534) ~$8
- Square zinc plated 2-1/8-in x 4-in U-Bolts from Northern Tools (Ultra-Tow #21502) ~$9
- 6-in inside "L" bracket from Ace Hardware - ~$6
