Peter Parker lives in New York with his uncle Ben and aunt May, goes to school, endures mockery from his classmates, and is secretly in love with his neighbor Mary Jane Watson. During a field trip to a science laboratory, he is bitten by a genetically altered spider, after which the quiet and insecure teenager suddenly gains incredible strength, agility, the ability to sense danger, and the power to climb walls. At first, Peter tries to use his new abilities for money and recognition, but a personal tragedy forces him to understand the cost of irresponsibility. Meanwhile, scientist Norman Osborn becomes the Green Goblin after a dangerous experiment, and New York needs a hero capable of stopping him. Sam Raimi’s superhero film turns a coming-of-age story into a drama about guilt, choice, and responsibility, where power becomes not a gift, but a heavy duty.
