Sony made a lot of great digital cameras over the years. And it always tries to use the best components, electronics, and, of course, lenses. The camera that I have here today and want to destroy is an old Sony CyberShot DSC-W100 from 2006. It's an 8.1 megapixels digital camera with a CCD sensor and 3X optical zoom. Nothing is special about this W100. At least if you don't pay attention, nothing is special. But, this camera features a lens that was made by Carl Zeiss, a very famous German lens manufacturer, specializing in making optics and DSLR professional lenses.

Carl Zeiss also has a decision for making digital camera lenses as well as smartphone camera lenses. This is one of those digital cameras that the company collaborated with Sony, maybe to show Zeiss lens-making capabilities.

Anyway, we're going to see what's inside this camera, especially, its lens. Since it is made by a famous brand, I suspect that I will find something interesting within the lens block. Let's watch and see what is so special about this Carl Zeiss lens and this Sony CyberShot DSC W100 digital camera.
