Normally, you would barely be able to do any damage to this guy because of the sheer amount of speed and acceleration he has. When you use clams though, it provides some low DPS, but it is completely consistent throughout the fight. You don't have to aim anymore, and you can focus on dodging. Of course, since the clams do debuff damage rather than summon damage, they don't suffer from the minion damage penalty, so you can do some extra DPS by switching to another weapon of choice.
