It is said, in the early 20th Century, an anonymous Canadian couple visited Tibet and discovered an ancient dice game called, "Ya Tsee." So thrilled with the complex simplicity of the game, they updated the rules and modernized the score cards, and began playing "The Yacht Game" with friends on their yachts. Their idea was sold to a guy in 1956 who patented the game as "Yahtzee", then eventually sold it to Milton Bradley in the 1970s. Or something like that.
