In this video, we'll be exploring NixOS, a unique linux distro that might just change the way you think about system configuration and package management.
I will show you how you can install a base system with NixOS and the window manager Qtile on your computer or in a KVM/QEMU Virtual Machine.

NixOS comes with three standout features:

Declarative system configuration: Means the entire system configuration can be defined in one single file. This ensures consistency and simplofies maintenance and recovery.

Atomic upgrades and rollbacks: which means you can update or revert your entire system state in one go. Say goodbye to dependency nightmares and hello to a stable system even after updates."

Package management with Nix: with the nix package manager you can have multiple version of the same package without any conflicts. No dependency hell anymore and new ways of experimenting new packages.

Even if NixOS comes with a graphical installer for selected desktop environment, I usually prefer the command line based installation to learn and control every step of the installation.
