Working with SUSE, Red Hat or CentOS you will be used to installing and managing RPM files but many adminis-trators do not understand what goes on in the rpm build process. If you manage more than one server distributing files and binaries though RPMs is a simple and easy way to ensure the required packages are at the correct level so being able to create your own RPM packages can be really useful. RPM files can contain documents and scripts, they do not need to have binary files however in this tutorial we will look at creating a RPM package with C source files that can be compiled into to the RPM.
