3rd Grade Math 8.5, Fractions on a Number Line

We can represent and locate fractions on a number line. We divide the number line into equal length and draw marks on the line at the end of each equal length. To locate a fraction, we can use the numerator to count the number of equal lengths. The denominator will tell us how many equal lengths there are in all. The length from 0 to 1 represents one whole, and one whole number to the next whole number represents 1 whole. We complete a number line and draw a point to show a given fraction. We use bar models to see the fraction of each part of a number line. We write a fraction that names a lettered point.
