It's fairly easy to mod Terraria by using the TerrariaPatcher, simply follow the steps in the video! Some important things to note is;

ALWAYS click yes when being prompted to backup and restore your terraria worlds so that you can patch the game multiple times

If you want to play normal Terraria again, simply verify the game integrity as instructed in the video which will return Terraria to its normal state! (your saves and characters will remain the same)
