Richard Chase (1950–1980) was a serial killer active in Sacramento, California, from December 1977 through January 1978.

In this footage, filmed by KCRA-TV, we see Chase in court at various times during his trial, which took place from January 2 to May 8, 1979. Also included are interviews with the prosecution and the defense, as well as the staff at Beverly Manor Psychiatric Hospital where Chase was a patient. KCRA reporters Mike Boyd and Spencer Michaels are featured.
