Hollow Knight - Nightmare King Grimm Boss Fight

Nightmare King Grimm boss fight. For this my setup was Quick Nail, Mark of Pride, Unbreakable Strength, and Grimmchild (you're required to have it equipped for the fight, and it does absolutely nothing during it.) Done on PC on Gamepad.

The most important thing here is patience. He actually has massive openings to attack, but they come sorta rarely. Dash through his bats to get 2-3 hits in, and get some nail hits or a spell in during the Flame Pillar move.

Imo there's two "gotcha's" for this fight. The first is learning how to handle his uppercut, the telegraph of which is very similar to the bats. In my first fight I was tempted to jump over it, but this is a horrible way to handle that attack because if you screw this up and read the uppercut as bats or vice versa you're going to get hit. If you seem him teleport to the ground, just immediately start walking away. The uppercut has a short horizontal range so if you just start walking away immediately you'll dodge it. If you read it wrong and its the bats, that's fine, you still have time to dash between the bats for hits.

The second gotcha is the flame pillar. Now this is a really good time to hit him, but his position when doing the flame pillar matters. He can pillar from the corner, and if you make your way underneath him and do a spell or try to get hits in when he's there, he can follow up with an uppercut right into the wall...and there's no escape then. I nearly blew the fight at 2:25 going for this and somehow managed to jump over the uppercut.

So yeah this is doable if you're patient and learn his moves well. Muscle memory will get you through eventually.
