Enea Besana was born in Mendrisio, southern Switzerland, on the 28th of July, 1997, and grew up in Lugano.

His grandmother was a soprano singer and a pianist, that’s probably where his love for music comes from originally.

Enea started to play on his parents’ kitchen pots when he was about 2 years old, he used to play for fun on whatever made a sound.

Then, one day, tired of hearing annoying noises from the kitchen all day, Enea’s grandmother decided to buy him a real drum kit as a Christmas present.

So he started to study drums at the age of 9 with Swiss drummer Guido Parini at the School of Modern Music in Lugano, Switzerland.

At 13 he started the pre-professional course and piano studies with Italian jazz legend Mario Rusca.

After getting a diploma in jazz and modern music in 2013, Enea met a few professional musicians who started to hire him in their bands. That way, he had the opportunity to meet jazz legends (such as Wayne Shorter McCoy Tyner, Chick Corea), and to perform often live with a lot of different amazing players learning a lot from them, recording in studios, making radio/television appearences and, the most important thing, improving his way of playing, creating his current style, both on the instruments and in his compositions.

Since 2016, Enea is based in Amsterdam, where he formed his own band with international musicians: Karolis Sarkus (LT) on Tenor and Soprano saxophones, Santiago Von Sternenfels (MEX) on Alto saxophone and Flute, Aron Gunst (UNG) on piano, Gediminas Stepanavicius (LT) on double bass and himself on drums.
The music could be defined as some sort of modern jazz with various influences such as folk, rock, blues and soul. The repertoire is uniquely made up of Enea’s original compositions, inspired by the music he grew up with. The music the Enea Besana Band plays was born like this: listening back to nostalgic tapes from his childhood (which are also sampled into the music), and looking at old photo albums from his early years of life, Enea got inspired to write music that springs from his roots, and speaks his own history. Like this, the music Enea plays today with his band was born.
