How to create an iphone mockup in Premiere Pro

Want to create an iphone mockup like this in Premiere Pro?
This is how you do it:

First of all, find a video you want to use and import it into Premiere Pro.

I’ve imported my Instagram reel 3 times, so that I can loop the video.

Next, you find (or create) an image of a phone that you place on the layer on top of your video.

I created this image in Adobe Illustrator as a vector file rather than in Photoshop, because then I can export it at any size without losing quality.

You can either use the Illustrator file as it is or export it as a png-file, like I’ve done in this case, to keep the transparent background.

Now, go to the “Effects” window, search for crop, and drag-and-drop that onto your video file in the timeline.

In the “Effect Controls” window, under your crop effect, select the pen tool and then create anchor points along the edge of the image to crop the video.

This is not the best crop ever, but you get the point.

To finalize your selection, click on the first anchor point you created.

Now, you have your area selected, but it’s cropped 0% from each side.
So just change one of the values to 100% to crop out everything inside your shape, and then you invert that selection by clicking Inverted.

You can select your mask in the Effect Controls window to finetune the anchor points afterwards and nest the two items in the timeline to animate it or, you can download a motion graphic template, where everything is created for you, and you just have to drag and drop your video into the template, like I have done here.
