NS + UP Train Goes By In a Blizzard! Fast CSX Train Blasts Thru The Snow! CSX Train w a DPU Alright! 5 Trains in all in this action packed train video filmed in and around Dun Kirk NY on January 26th 2022.
0:00 Intro.
0:53 We are at the CSX Middle Road crossing in a blizzard on 26 January 2022 waiting to see if a CSX train is about to come.
1:31 We are driving south on Middle Road from the CSX tracks to the Norfolk Southern tracks with the snow coming down. At 2:15 you park on the right side of Middle Road before the Norfolk Southern tracks.
2:38 You zoom in on a headlight coming toward us from the east. This is Norfolk Southern train #23K. It is powered one Norfolk Southern engine and two Union Pacific engines. We watch the train as it passes Middle Road.
6:08 After Norfolk Southern train #23K passes you pan toward the Nestle Purina dog food plant where we see two John Deere payloader front end loader working to clear the snow from the employee parking lot. You tell us that at other times these John Deere payloaders have a railroad coupler attached the the boom that now holds a snow plow.. The coupler is used to move the covered hopper cars of grain and the tank cars around in the plant to save the switching charges that CSX would charge to move the cars.
7:49 You start forward on Middle Road to get closer to the Norfolk Southern tracks where you have more space to turn around and head north on Middle Road to the CSX tracks. At 9:16 you turn right to stay on Middle Road to the CSX tracks. At 9:48 you turn into the vehicle entrance of the CSX Dunkirk Rail Yard because this area has been plowed so there is less snow here.
10:40 WE can see light from the setting sun lighting up a portion of the western sky where the clouds are much thinner than the darker clouds that contain lake effect snow. As you pan around the sky, we see portions of the sky that are blue with some high white clouds.
11:13 You zoom to the east and we see the headlight of CSX train #561 passing under the Control Point 37 signal bridge. At 13:34 a mid-train DPU appears through the snow that the train is blowing around because of its speed At 14:35 a white covered hopper car with two blue strips on the side goes past. After the covered hopper car passes, you asked what it was. Because of the snow swirling around the train cars, I could not make out any wording or the reporting marks on the car. At 16:29 the lights on the Control Point 37 signal bridge go dark. At 16:36 you zoom zoom in on the tower at he Nestle Purina dog food plant. We see the checkerboard logo of the Ralston Purina Company.
16:42 We are again looking east as CSX train #Q367 approaches under the Control Point 37 signal bridge. As the train approaches the Middle Road crossing, the train's headlight is reflecting off the tracks and it looks like the rails are on fire. At 19:32 the lights go out on the Control Point 37 signal bridge.
19:47 It is 10 January 2022, we are at the Berry Road crossing in Pomfret, New York as the CSX gates are going down . At 20:06 the lead engine of CSX train #Q368 crosses Berry Road with a mixed freight at track speed.
21:40 We are at the CSX Middle Road crossing as an eastbound CSX intermodal train passes. Most of the cars on this train were bare tables. You made no mention of the date when this portion of the video was taken nor did you give us any information on what the train symbol was of this train.
24:13 Your Outro starts and ends at 26:02.
This was an interesting video of trains in blizzard-like conditions and then trains with no snow falling but snow was swirling around the train because the speeds of the trains were blowing the light snow all around. We even managed to see portions of a clear blue sky after the band of lake effect snow changed course because the wind shifted. Thank you for uploading this video.
