A very quick set of measurements on a new amplifier my son bought for his home audio system. Basically, we wanted to see if it actually did deliver the power it was advertised at and if it the frequency response was flat from 20Hz to 20KHz and it did perform as advertised. It is reasonably heavy and has a toroid power transformer big enough to deliver 120 watts output (I always consider amplifiers about 50% efficient) so that would be 240 watts the power transformer would have to deliver under full sine wave load both channels operating. I would think it sounds very clean and 60 watts of peak power into speakers of 95 dB SPL would develop a sound level of around 18 dB more (113 dB per channel) or around 116 dB of sound pressure level (both channels operating). Usually plenty loud for me... :-)
