SAP Query - Create a Transaction Code for an SAP Query

It is not mandatory to use the transaction SQ01 to execute a SAP Query. There is also the possibility to define your own transaction code for a SAP Query.

Create your own transaction code in transaction SE93. Enter the transaction code and press the Create button. After entering the short text, select "Program and selection screen (report transaction)" and confirm the entry.

As of Release 6.10, SAP delivers a template with the report SAP_QUERY_CALL for this purpose. The delivered template has a selection screen with parameters for the query work area, user group and query name, as well as for query variants, with which you can start the SAP Query. Once the values have been entered, a module is called to execute the query.
