Avianca Airlines Flight 52 was supposed to be a routine flight from Bogota, Colombia to New York. The Boeing 707 took off with 158 passengers and crew members onboard, soaring in clear blue skies over Florida. However, as the plane approached the northeast coast of America, air traffic controllers put the plane in a holding pattern over Richmond, Virginia, causing the fuel to dwindle down.
