Boozhoo, Ahniin,
My name is Leslee Henry-White-Eye. I am a proud member of Chippewas of the Thames First Nation and love this place we call our home. I am also the proud daughter of George and Theresa Henry and have one cool brother and two beautiful sisters; Dave, Shelby and Carolyn Henry. I loved growing up watching my uncles and aunts play on Chippewa Fastball teams in tournaments. I liked being one of the many who rode in the Annual Chippethon from Springbank to Chippewa as a child at the annual church fundraiser. Most importantly, I loved being part of the Henry-Deleary clan made up of so many beautiful cousins, aunties and uncles. Lots of love, good times, and gatherings with lots of food.
I am a teacher by trade, teaching at Antler River Elementary School for eight years in Kindergarten and in grade seven teacher here at Chippewa. Then I worked at a regional education coalition situated in Munsee-Delaware Nation where I provided education support to 10 First Nation communities and urban organizations in Aboriginal Education for 3 years. This is where I began to learn the importance of strong relationships with fellow First Nation communities and partners. And currently, for the past eight years, I work at the Ministry of Education at the Aboriginal Education Office as an education officer.
Now, I want to lend my leadership skills to the nation in the role as Chief and help foster a strong Chippewas of the Thames family, pride in our ancestry as Anishinaabe Ojibwe people and promote Chippewa families coming together, as our powwow committee did in the Homecoming of 2012. Most importantly, with precision and member direction I would like to focus on foundational pieces that make for strong families; economic, social, governance, cultural, infrastructure and health stability for our community all centred on trust, transparency and accountability.
This is why I am running for Chief and want your vote.
Please engage in this year’s election.
Get out and vote and consider me as you cast your ballot.
Miigwech,
Leslee Henry-White-Eye

I BELIEVE
Strong families, for a strong Anishinaabek future
“Our members have so many skills to offer. Each member has a story and gift that needs to be fostered. A one size fits all approach is not going to work because each members skills are so different and preparedness to work or raise families is different. Chippewa needs to find ways to support individuals and their families at the time and place they need it most to make the next step to their goals.”
“Chippewa opens it doors to many communities in many ways. Our annual powwow is one way we have done that in the past. The recent Residential School memorial unveiling was an important milestone in our community’s history that impacted many communities across Ontario and Michigan. Fostering partnerships with external stakeholders and organizations and businesses that strengthen our families needs to be a focus here at Chippewa where immediate returns are felt by families.”
“Recreation and social activities run by community groups and volunteers unite members and also create life time memories of being part of a community here at Chippewa. The fostering and support of family gatherings and promotion and awareness of family supports available to them in and around the community and the development of effective well-being strategies are all things that support stronger families.”
