Episode 41 - PC Microphone on a Mac
Tools needed:
1 Mac with a Line-In port
1 PC with a Microphone port and headphone/speaker port and Windows Vista or 7 (See XP details below)
1 Audio cable
Optional:
Speaker set for PC that has a headphone port on it.
HOW TO DO THIS IN XP:
1. Plug in your Microphone to the XP PC and plug the audio cable into the headphone/speaker port on the XP PC and the line-in port on your Mac.
2. Right click on the volume icon in your notification area.
3. Select "Open Volume Control".
4. Click "Options" at the top and choose "Properties".
5. Check the box for "Microphone" and press OK.
6. Unmute the microphone and adjust the volume as necessary. If you hear loud noises, turn it off immediately.
After that, it SHOULD work in XP. No promises. Some audio cards might not be able to do it. My XP PC works fine, but the output volume is very low compared to that of my Windows 7 PC.
Hope this helps you guys out!
