The 150 UP (FQ001) Delhi Cantt - Alwar STEAM EXPRESS was an weekly steam special train hauled by 1960's steam locomotive WP 7161 "Akbar" running between Delhi Cantonment Station (DEC) and Alwar via. Rewari in the winters. However, this train is now discontinued.
The WP class locomotive 7161 'Akbar' is a heritage steam locomotive of Indian Railways which is homed by the Heritage Steam Shed of Rewari, Northern Railway. These WP class 4-6-2 'Pacific' were the most popular steam locomotives of their era hauling the fastest and prestigious passenger trains with a top speed of 110 km/hr. Their strongest contender was the WG class 2-8-2 locomotives which were for freight trains. It is a good news that Indian Railways is now planning to restore a WG locomotive too with the help of Rewari Steam Shed. The WP and WG classes were main workhorses after independence, to keep moving the Broad Gauge (5'6") trains on the Indian Railways.
Some details of the locomotive:
