The Bohr model of the atom uses the quantization of energy to explain why elements emit quantized energy rather than continuous energy when they are heated to high temperatures. This model asserts that electrons occupy orbits with specific energy values. Orbits closer to the nucleus have lower energy, and orbits further from the nucleus have higher energy. Each line in a quantized emission spectrum represents the energy difference between 2 of these orbits.
