Cheap XLR Microphones Are...Cheap: CAD GXL 1800 Update

In this video I just do a quick update after getting a second CAD GXL 1800 to make sure the first one wasn't defective.

I have considered the possibility that the second mic I received was a "fake" CAD mic. However, I do not think this is the case. The boxes and included accessories are the same and considering it's a $34 mic I would be surprised if there was a big motivation to create "fakes" of a mic like this. The first mic was purchased from B&H Photo, the second was purchased from Amazon (sold and shipped by Amazon). I only considered it being a fake at all because of the drastic differences between the two mics.

Update: I was able to fix the second microphone. It turned out to be a grounding/shielding issue. Not exactly sure how it was happening, but I took everything apart and ensured everything was connected and grounded properly and put it back together and it worked. I think it's actually a tiny bit less noisy than the first mic. But the difference is very minor and certainly not enough to change my overall opinion on this mic. It's still much nosier than spec. Still, I did get the mic working. So there's that.
