His death was announced on YouTube on June 30th, 2022 under the title "so long nerds", a video that garnered millions of views in a very short time. Many YouTubers expressed their condolences including the creator of Minecraft, Markus Notch Persson.

His death is the largest in the history of Minecraft as of 2022.
