Описание

Immediate Dentin Sealing with a Self-Etch adhesive system. This technique maximizes the bond strength of indirect restorations and is a key technique of Biomimetic Dentistry. Read below for a summary of this procedure including What, Why, and How.

What is Immediate Dentin Sealing?
Immediate Dentin Sealing, abbreviated as IDS, is a technique to improve your bond strength to dentin for indirect restorations. The procedure involves the application and polymerization of the dentin bonding agent to freshly cut dentin at the time of preparation.

Why perform Immediate Dentin Sealing?
With the right materials and correct application technique, Immediate Dentin Sealing improves the bond strength of indirect restorations by over 400%. This is confirmed by countless scientific investigations, dating back as far back as 1992. Freshly cut dentin is the ideal substrate, only available shortly after preparation. Curing the dentin bonding agent on cementation day requires air thinning to avoid fit issues and marginal discrepancies, however, ultra-thin layers of resin are air-inhibited and do not benefit from adhesion to freshly cut dentin.

How is Immediate Dentin Sealing Performed?
1)The dentin bonding agent is applied after the preparation is completed, but prior to taking the final impression. The application technique varies depending on the specific bonding agent used.
2) Next, a highly filled flowable resin is applied to cover the sealed dentin (.5 mm). This step is known as resin-coating.
3) Any modifications of the preparation can be completed additively with composite including blocking undercuts, building up deep areas, or changing preparation geometry.

Product Recommendations:
4th (3-step Total etch) and 6th Generation (2-step self-etch) Dentin Bonding Agents are recommended. Optibond FL, SE Bond, and SE Protect perform consistently well.
