How to hold your breath for longer underwater | Freedive Training

Welcome back to another episode of Ocean Chan Freediving. A lot of you have often asked about breath-hold times whilst diving as well as asking how to improve on breath-hold times.
As much as I love to encourage all of you to go out there to do freediving and exploring the seas, I can only give you tips that I know from my training. I am not a professional freediver or freediving instructor, and for more in depth and advanced techniques, you should take a freediving certification course such as those offered by AIDA, PADI or SSI. I am not able to offer you any tips on competition freediving.

In this video I wanted to break it down to the most basic understanding of how to get to around 1 minute to 1.5 minutes. I think this is a great time for recreational freedivers as it allows for a decent exploration of a reef or interaction with a marine animal as well as sticking to safety protocols.

Safety is paramount in freediving and I urge you all to dive within your limits as well as have a rescue buddy on standby. Don't push yourself over your limits when training! (Hence why the courses are so important).

I don't usually make videos like this, I would prefer to showcase the dive sites I have visited, but hopefully this is informative and helps you with your freedive training. I will return in 2 weeks time for more dive site showcases!
